Waterway Traffic Flow

Course traffic flow differs between training and racing. The training-row flow applies during the warm-up window of 6:30am–7:30am on regatta days.

QLD State Rowing Centre (QSRC)

Wyaralong Dam Access Road is located off Boonah-Beaudesert Road in Allenview and continues through to the dam wall. It is north-west of Beaudesert on the Teviot Brook, nestled at the base of Mt Joyce.

Coming from Brisbane, some prefer the route along the Cunningham Hwy through Peak Crossing; others prefer the Mt Lindesay Hwy through Beaudesert.

Arriving in the morning, it is easier to turn left into the Dam Access Road from the Peak Crossing direction. Departing on the way home, it is easier to turn left onto Boonah-Beaudesert Rd towards Beaudesert.

Some Added Tips

From Brisbane (through Beaudesert): take the Mount Lindesay Highway, turn right onto Telemon Street, then right onto Bromelton St. Continue onto Boonah-Beaudesert Road for approximately 10km, turn right onto Wyaralong Dam Access Road and continue through the gate until you reach the Meebun Recreational Area.

From the Gold Coast: take the Beaudesert-Nerang Rd to Beaudesert, then continue along Albert St (which becomes William St). Veer left onto Telemon St, then right onto Bromelton St. Continue onto Boonah-Beaudesert Road for approximately 10km, turn right onto Wyaralong Dam Access Road and continue through the gate until you reach the Meebun Recreational Area.

Two Headlands

See the venue maps above. There are two headlands:

  1. Spectator Headland — for spectators (pre-paid parking / booking required)
  2. Competitor Headland — for competitors

Tinnie Boat Trailer Parking

Tinnie boat trailers must unload, then move out under the direction of a Traffic Controller to the Bus Drop-off / Pick-up / Trailer Parking Area (marked F on the Spectator Headland map).

Disabled Parking

The best disabled parking is in parking area 5 or 6, so you can board the shuttle and be dropped off on Meebun Ring Road (the closest area to the racing). There is no parking on Meebun Ring Road, as parking here impacts shuttle access. If you need to access the ring road to drop off or pick up a disabled passenger, this can be arranged with the traffic controller at the lead-up regattas.

For the Head of the River, some adaptation is made for disabled and elderly visitors — buy the pre-paid parking and email the event organiser for details.

Parking attendants at the entrance will direct you to the area.

Please remember: no dogs.
