Well the Premier can’t come but I hope your school community will be there?

The BSRA is looking forward to welcoming the 10 member school communities at Wyaralong. We hope to see large numbers of supporters….

Thank you for your invitation extended to the Honourable Annastacia Palaszczuk MP, Premier of Queensland and Minister for the Arts, to attend the Brisbane Schoolgirl’s Rowing Association – Head of the River morning tea at Wyaralong Dam on 10:15am.

Unfortunately, owing to a previously confirmed commitment in the Premier’s schedule at that time, the Premier is unable to accept your kind invitation.

Please accept the Premier’s most sincere apologies on this occasion together with her best wishes for a successful event.

Kind regards

Office of the Premier

Head of the River MENU

A wonderful selection of food for the 2017 Head of the River.

Please be aware that there are no EFTPOS facilities at Wyaralong because there is NO INTERNET (horror).

To all the parents and carers: you are the walking ATM for your children – you will need sufficient cash for your appetite and theirs. 🙂

Head of the River parking is $10

The parking this weekend is $10 and includes a magnificent memento program.

Please be aware that there is no EFTPOS facility at Wyaralong.

Wow what a day! Thank you to everyone for being so inspired by the adventure of facing the elements 🙂 and I don’t just mean the girls!

St Aidan’s thank you. It must have been sooo hard to set up yesterday in that wind and endure the night. The effort today was fabulous. The wind makes everything a ‘little bit crazy.’The news of the cancelled races was passed on with the message: ‘don’t forget to buy a burger.’

Thank you everyone for supporting St Aidan’s they ended up having a very successful day and it is a credit to the BSRA community to see such support. Thank you Rowing Queensland and the Boat Race Officials for supporting the racing and keeping the girls safe.

This time of year traditionally sends wind and we have been very fortunate with the previous four regattas. I am watching the forecast but it looks like the wind will blow itself out (touch wood) in the next day or so.

Please be aware next week, that parking and traffic management will again be the bane of the regatta so please be patient. Somerville are hosting and there is limited internet so the EFTPOS machine is unreliable. Please bring cash.

See you next week….

The Head of the River Medals have arrived!!!!!!!

Here’s a look at the medals – aren’t they beautiful hardware to reward hard work!!!

These magnificent medals were designed by a man who was in the armed forces – they have a dignified military look about them don’t you think?

Precision, discipline, effort and giving your all for the crew.

I am so privileged to award them to you and I just can’t wait. Bring on the Head of the River 2017…. 🙂

The BRO’s were remarking on the extraordinary good sportsmanship and steering of the AHS 8+ Division 2. There was a steering breakage of the boat in the next lane that sent them careering into AHS. The AHS coxswain took it in her stride and manoeuvred her boat into the next lane. It was very skilful and very well done. There was no damage and no protest because the race just continued. Very impressive….

The Bow Number ladies also commented on the impeccable manners from all the girls’ today. Perhaps motivated by lollies (?) but wonderful to hear!!! Well done 🙂
