How to get to the

Queensland State Rowing Centre

on Wyaralong Dam and disabled access

If you haven’t been out to the dam before, put Wyaralong Dam Access Road into your GPS. Wyaralong Dam Access Road is located off Boonah-Beaudesert Road in Allenview and continues through to the dam wall. It is located north-west of Beaudesert on the Teviot Brook, nestled at the base of Mt Joyce.

Coming from Brisbane some people prefer the route along the Cunningham Hwy through Peak Crossing, others prefer the Mt Lindesay Hwy through Beaudesert way. Those who have done both ways say it’s just personal choice really.

2023 – There are some roadworks at Milbong between Peaks Crossing and the Boonah-Beaudesert turn off. Traffic is reduced to one lane with traffic lights managing the passage in one direction.

Arriving in the morning, you might like to consider that it is easier to turn left into the Dam Access road from the Peaks Crossing direction. Departing on the way home, it is easier to turn left onto Boonah-Beaudesert Rd towards Beaudesert.

Some added tips

For traffic travelling from Brisbane through Beaudesert, take the Mount Lindesay Highway, turn right on to Telemon Street, then turn right on Bromelton St. Travel on to Boonah-Beaudesert road, travel for approximately 10kms, turn right on to Wyaralong Dam Access Road and continue through the gate until arrival at Meebun Recreational Area.

For traffic travelling from the Gold Coast, take the Beaudesert-Nerang Rd until Beaudesert, then continue along Albert St in Beaudesert, which turns in to William St. Veer left on to Telemon St, then turn right on Bromelton St. Travel on to Boonah-Beaudesert road, travel for approximately 10kms, turn right on to Wyaralong Dam Access Road and continue through the gate until arrival at Meebun Recreational Area.

Two Headlands (see venue maps)

  1. Spectator Headland – for spectators (pre paid parking/booking is required)
  2. Competitor Headland – for Competitors

Tinnie Boat Trailer Parking

Tinnie boat trailers must unload, then move out under the direction of a Traffic Controller to the Bus Drop Off / Pick Up / Trailer Parking Area (Spectator headland map marked F)

Disabled Parking

The best Disabled Parking is in parking area 5 or 6 so that you can board the shuttle and be dropped off on Meebun Ring Road (the closest area to the racing). There is no parking on Meebun Ring Road as parking in this location impacts the shuttle access. If you need to access the ring road to drop off/pick up a disabled passenger this can be arranged with the traffic controller in the lead up regattas.

For the Head of the River some adaptation is made for the Disabled/elderly. Buy the pre pay parking and email the event organiser for the details.

Parking Attendants at the entrance will direct you to the area.

Remember: No dogs.
